When I was 22 yrs old, I lived for two months at a commune in Vermont. It was there that I discovered the Indian mystic and spiritual teacher J. Krishnamurti (1895 - 1986). I was immediately smitten.
Distrust of doctrine - I felt magnetized by Krishnamurti because he sounded a radical call to self-inquiry. He deemphasized systems and doctrines, and invited his listeners to fall back into their own authority.
Awakening authentic answers - Instead of handing out answers to his students, he awakened their capacity to see. First, he invited people to notice their conditioning. Second, he asked that seekers transcend their conditioning, and see with their own eyes, for themselves, that there is no separate self.
Choiceless awareness - Krishnamurti promoted the cultivation of awareness without choice—an experience of this moment without preference, control, or resistance.
When I’ve experienced this choiceless awareness - and admittedly, I go in and out of this condition - I notice a sense of complete freedom, liberation and ease. Let Krishnamurti be your guide and experience this choiceless awareness directly - for yourself. I invite you to explore with me the implications of his maxim, “I don’t mind what happens.”
With warmth,
Jonathan
