Jonathan Gustin, MA, LMFT

Jonathan is a purpose guide, psychotherapist, meditation teacher, and integral mentor in private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 20 years. Jonathan is the founder and lead teacher of the Purpose Guide Institute, Integral Awakening Center and Green Sangha.  He teaches purpose discovery at San Quentin Prision and also serves as adjunct faculty at John F. Kennedy University 

Jonathan is a contributing author (along with Ken Wilber and Ervin Laszlo) to the book anthology, Purpose Rising (2017).  Jonathan has taught at the California Institute of Integral Studies, Kaiser Permanente, Green Gulch Zen Center, Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Open Circle, Bay Area Integral, The Nondual Wisdom & Mental Health Conference, iEvolve, Marina Counseling Center, and iRest Institute.

Jonathan has co-taught with human potential pioneer George Leonard, Buddhist activist Joanna Macy and depth psychologist Bill Plotkin.  Jonathan taught at Kaiser Permanente  including: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Mind-Body Medicine, Overcoming Depression, Couples Communication and Integral Life Practice.

Rachael Duffy

Rachael Duffy is Associate Director & Senior Faculty at Purpose Guides Institute. She is a Purpose Guide™, Soul-Life Coach, Work That Reconnects facilitator, and song carrier. Based in South Africa, she is the founder of SoulNature, produces programs for the Animas Valley Institute, and stewards a piece of land where she is restoring indigenous forest. Rooted in a deep love of nature and a reverence for the animacy of all life, Rachael guides people into intimate relationship with the living world.

With over 25 years of experience as a coach, guide, and facilitator, she supports others to remember the truth of who they are, and to live in alignment with their soul’s calling. Her work is devoted to the Great Turning—this time of collective transition toward a life-enhancing future.


Michael Denmeade,

Michael has spent most of his adult life learning and living what he calls the Mitakyasin Way—how to live in Right Relationship and Reciprocity with all life. Mitakuye Oyasin literally means ‘All My Relations’.  He was trained to be a fire keeper for sacred ceremony and answers the call when medicine people need him.  He is a spiritual mentor, vision quest guide and invitationalist to other two-legged people on how to live in Right Relationship and Reciprocity with All Life!

Joanna Macy, PhD

Joanna Macy PhD, is a scholar of Buddhism, general systems theory, and deep ecology. A respected voice in the movements for peace, justice, and ecology, she interweaves her scholarship with five decades of activism. As the root teacher of the Work That Reconnects, she has created a ground-breaking theoretical framework for personal and social change, as well as a powerful workshop methodology for its application.

Many thousands of people around the world have participated in Joanna's workshops and trainings. Her group methods, known as the Work That Reconnects, have been adopted and adapted yet more widely in classrooms, churches, and grassroots organizing. Her work helps people transform despair and apathy, in the face of overwhelming social and ecological crises, into constructive, collaborative action. It brings a new way of seeing the world, as our larger living body, freeing us from the assumptions and attitudes that now threaten the continuity of life on Earth.

Jean Houston Ph.D, scholar, philosopher and researcher in Human Capacities, is one of the foremost visionary thinkers and doers of our time. She is long regarded as one of the principal founders of the Human Potential Movement.

Dr. Houston is noted for her ability to combine a deep knowledge of history, culture, new science, spirituality and human development into her teaching. A prolific writer, Dr. Houston is the author of 26 books including Jump Time, A Passion for the Possible, Search for the Beloved, Life Force, and The Possible Human. As Advisor to UNICEF in human and cultural development, she has worked around the world helping to implement some of their extensive educational programs.  Dr. Houston has also served in an advisory capacity to President and Mrs. Clinton as well as assisting Mrs. Clinton in her writing of her book, It Takes A Village: And Other Lessons Children Teach Us. Jean Houston’s mind should be considered a national treasure”, said Buckminster Fuller, a renowned American philosopher, thinker, visionary, inventor, architect, engineer, mathematician, poet and cosmologist.

Michael Meade, D.H.L., is a renowned storyteller, author, and scholar of mythology, anthropology, and psychology. He combines hypnotic storytelling, street-savvy perceptiveness, and spellbinding interpretations of ancient myths with a deep knowledge of cross-cultural rituals. He has an unusual ability to distill and synthesize these disciplines, tapping into ancestral sources of wisdom and connecting them to the stories we are living today. He is the author of The Genius Myth, Fate and Destiny: The Two Agreements of The Soul; editor, with James Hillman and Robert Bly, of Rag and Bone Shop of the Heart. Meade is the founder of Mosaic Multicultural Foundation, a nonprofit network of artist, activists, and community builders that encourages greater understanding between diverse peoples.

 

 Bill Plotkin, Ph.D.

 Bill Plotkin, Ph.D.

Bill Plotkin, Ph.D., is a depth psychologist, wilderness guide, and agent of cultural evolution. As founder of western Colorado’s Animas Valley Institute in 1981, he has guided thousands of women and men through nature-based initiatory passages, including a contemporary, Western adaptation of the pan-cultural vision quest. Previously, he has been a research psychologist (studying non-ordinary states of consciousness), professor of psychology, psychotherapist, rock musician, and whitewater river guide. In 1979, on a solo winter ascent of an Adirondack peak, Bill experienced a call to adventure, leading him to abandon academia in search of his true calling. Bill is the author of Soulcraft: Crossing into Mysteries of Nature and Psyche (an experiential guidebook), Nature and the Human Soul: Cultivating Wholeness and Community in a Fragmented World (a nature-based stage model of human development through the entire lifespan), and Wild Mind: A Field guide to the Human Psyche  (an ecocentric map of the psyche — for healing, growing whole, and cultural transformation). He has a doctorate in psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Aftab Omer, Ph.D.

Dr. Aftab Omer is the founder and president of Meridian University in Petaluma, California. He received his Bachelor’s from M.I.T. and his Doctorate from Brandeis University. Formerly a faculty member in both the Psychology and Sociology departments at Sonoma State University, he is currently the President of the Council for Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychologies.

Aftab’s research has focused on the emergence of human capacities within transformative learning communities and his work includes assisting organizations in tapping the creative potentials of conflict, diversity, and complexity. His published articles include The Spacious Center: Leadership and the Creative Transformation of Culture and Between Columbine and the Twin Towers: Fundamentalist Culture as a Failure of Imagination.

Brian Stafford, MD, MPH

Brian Stafford, MD, MPH

Brian Stafford, MD, MPH is a depth psychiatrist, wilderness guide, poet, essayist, and agent of human and cultural transformation. Previously, he was an academic pediatrician, and an adult,  adolescent, child, perinatal and infant psychiatrist with numerous clinical, research, and educational publications as well as many institutional, state, and national awards.

He left academic medicine and Western culture to move to the wild Pacific coast of Costa Rica where he founded Eco-Psyche-Artistry. He completed the intensive training as a psycho-spiritual wilderness guide with the international leader in this work, the Animas Valley Institute, and now guides individuals to the place they most long and fear to go – their soul place and purpose. He returned to the US and now guides primarily in Ojai, California.

Brody is the co-founder of SoulTrue, and a certified Purpose Guide™, mentor, and teacher. He draws on a diversity of experiences to help people awaken to their genius and serve the world with passion, purpose and impact. This includes perennial wisdom practices, and transpersonal psychology modalities such as Holotropic Breathwork, Shamanism, Angeles Arrien’s The Four-Fold Way/Cross Cultural Leadership Training. He's worked with many Fortune 100-500 clients, start-ups and nonprofits. He helps CEOs, employees, and organizational leaders embody their purpose.

 

Niharika Sanyal,

Niharika is a Soul Purpose Guide™ & Senior Mentor at Purpose Guides Institute, and Soul Plan Practitioner. She lives in Auroville, India, a community centred around the philosophy of Integral Yoga. She completed an Ed.M in Human Development & Psychology from Harvard, received a PG Diploma in Counseling and Guidance, and trained with the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy. Her work is in service to the spirit of the divine feminine and her resurfacing in our world: through the Way of the Heart, the Way of Love, and the Way of the Earth. Instagram
