Grief as Gateway

8:00 am – 11:30 am PT  ·  with Carolyn Griffeth & Lyndsey Scott

"Grief work is soul work. Grief tending is the cutting edge of soul activism." — Francis Weller

How do we carve out space amidst the overwhelm of life's requirements to slow down and feel deeply enough to access the caverns of our hearts? How will anything change if we don't?

We see everywhere the evidence of generational trauma repeating itself. The breakneck pace of modernity demands that we numb out to keep going. To interrupt the cycles of insanity, we are learning to pause and practice the sacred art of grief tending. To access the gold of our souls, we must.

Come tend with us, friends — your personal grief and that of our collective. Let's remember the wisdom that lives in our bodies and connects us to the soul of the world.

A word from the facilitators

In this three-hour + 30-minute workshop, we will:

i. Invite our voices to open the path to our heart through Song
ii. Anchor a practical skillset of embodied space holding
iii. Practice sacred witness as a key component of building relational safety
iv. Explore each of Francis Weller's Five Gates of Grief through interactive processes
v. Create beauty through a simple, repeatable ritual

Each time we practice together we build skill. Each time we tend our own grief, we tend the heart of the world. May this time of tender listening and honoring our sorrow reignite the passion of our souls and awaken an outpouring of love for the world.

Carolyn Griffeth

Soul Guide  ·  Earth-Reverent Ritualist  ·  Grief Tender

Carolyn (cis-woman of Celtic heritage) serves widely as soul guide, Earth-reverent ritualist, grief tender, and soul-centric dream tender. She is also the root teacher of Earthkeeper Wisdom School, which serves the revival of living culture through Earth-reverent, soul-nourishing ritual and ceremony.

Holding sacred space for grief and sorrow is central to her approach to soul work — for in her words, "Honoring our grief is not only healing, it is initiating. Grief opens us to our deep depths of caring; it reveals what we have come here for."

Carolyn has apprenticed in the sacred art of grief tending with Francis Weller, Joanna Macy, and most of all, Sobonfu Somé of the Dagara people of Burkina Faso. She warmly welcomes you to reach out for a free consultation, and invites those yearning for a deep dive in intuitive ritual craft to explore Earthkeeper Wisdom School's A Year in Ceremony.
